Donate online to 5 ministries
You now can donate online to five Oklahoma Conference ministries: the Bolivia/Oklahoma partnership, Camps, Criminal Justice & Mercy Ministries, Project Transformation, and Volunteers In Mission.
Electronic giving to these ministries is being managed by contract with Vanco, a vendor endorsed by the General Council on Finance & Administration, according to the Oklahoma Conference Treasurer’s Office.
On its Web page, each ministry has a link posted to receive direct contributions from individuals.
Group begins work for 2012
Oklahoma United Methodists are already preparing to host the next South Central Jurisdictional Conference—which is in 2012.
Downtown Oklahoma City is the destination for that meeting, July 17-20, 2012, at Cox Convention Center.
The Host Committee has members from both Oklahoma Indian Missionary and Oklahoma Conferences. The group has held two planning sessions at the United Methodist Ministry Center. Co-chairmen are David Wilson and Joseph Harris.
The Host Committee has approved a theme: "Woven Together for Transformation." Gifts of hand-woven baskets are being designed. An Area Night will include food and entertainment.
Oklahoma also hosted the conference in 1968, according to David Severe, executive director of Mission & Administration for the jurisdiction and an Oklahoma clergyman.

Saint Paul School is 50
Several Oklahomans attended the 50th anniversary celebration of Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Mo.
During the Sept. 28-29 activities, Oklahoma City University President Tom McDaniel received the Good Samaritan Award. Saint Paul School President Myron McCoy presented the medallion.
The award honored McDaniel for going out of his way to help the seminary. Just one year ago, in September 2008, Saint Paul School celebrated its first Opening Convocation on the OCU campus.
