Written: 11/6/2009

Inspecting handmade quilts, above, are United Methodist Women from McCloud, Yukon-Church of the Good Shepherd, and OKC-Hillcrest Fuente de Vida. A group led by church member and quilter Nancy Green, shown at left in lower photo, is creating Christian-themed quilts to replace the banners hanging throughout the sanctuary. Shown on this page are a carpenter’s wreath pattern and depictions of the empty tomb and the United Methodist cross-and-flame logo. The quilt workshop in October was presented at Hillcrest Fuente de Vida, a church formed by the merger of a primarily Hispanic congregation and one that was primarily Anglo. Pastor is Tino Espinoza, who is holding the fabric panel in the photo at top right.
