Clergy Benefit Essentials Retreat

Just starting out in ministry? Or thinking about retiring in the near future? Or are you somewhere in between?  At either end of the spectrum or somewhere in between, this retreat is designed to help you understand your benefits and financial future.

This year’s retreat is planned with 2 clearly defined tracks to focus on the distinctive issues.  Track 1 is for those wanting more information about their current benefits and planning for the future.  Track 2 is those who are nearing retirement and the choices that will need to be made.

The 2009 retreat will be held at Canyon Camp in Hardt Lodge on November 5 & 6 and at Camp Egan in Holliman Lodge on November 12 & 13. You choose which dates work best for your schedule. Check-in will start at 1:30 pm with the retreat starting 2:30 pm on Thursday and concluding around 3:30 pm on Friday. Pre-registration is required. The cost is $55.00 for the clergy and $10.00 for spouses. The Oklahoma Conference Board of Pension and Health Benefits is supplementing the cost of the retreat.

1 CEU is available.

TRACK 1

For clergy who are just starting out or who are in the middle of their career, we will look at your current pension & healthcare benefits from the General Board of Pension and Health Benefits and the Oklahoma Conference.  Also, we will look at  what might be done to prepare for the future and how to better manage your income now.

Track 2

For clergy who are considering retirement within the next 5 years, we will look at the many choices and decisions that you will need to make before and during retirement in regard to your pension and healthcare benefits from the General Board of Pension and Health Benefits, the Oklahoma Conference, and Social Security.

Pension Projections

Each participant will receive a pension projection based on age 62, 65, &/or 70 (depending on current age). There will time available during the retreat for one on one time to review your projections.  Sign up times will be available upon check-in.

The book, Comfort Zones-Planning a Fulfilling Retirement, will be available at the retreat at a cost of $15.00. This book is recommended by the General Board of Pension and Health Benefits as an important resource in preparation for retirement regardless of age.
